What tools will I need to install the PowerMax®+ system?
You will only need a few screwdrivers, drill and a hammer. A spirit level and tape measure would be useful also.
Will I able to install the system myself?
Any competent DIYer will be able to install the PowerMax®+. If you can drill a hole for a picture hook you can install our system!
What if I find it too difficult to install?
In the very unlikely event that, once you have opened the Kit and read the very simple instructions, you are concerned that you may not be able to install the system yourself you can either call us on 0800 612 8716 or return the Kit for a full and immediate refund. (Please see the Terms and Conditions page for further details on our Returns Policy.)
How does the PowerMax®+ system work?
It all works on the very latest wireless technology except the control panel which is plugged into the electricity supply (via the plug provided).
If you want your system to contact you via telephone with information, then you will also need a telephone point.
Where would be a good place to put my control panel?
Somewhere you can get to it easily, such as in the hall or under the stairs. For detailed information on where to position your control panel please click here (goes to relevant download on the Technical Information page.)
Where do I mount the alarm sensors and what type do I use?
For doors and windows use Magnetic Door Contacts. PIRs or Motion Sensors (pet friendly) should be used elsewhere. They should be mounted a maximum of 2.5 metres from the ground.

What happens if I lose my alarm fob?
You can buy another one from us very quickly. Just call us on 0800 612 8716.
What type of batteries does the system use?
The system, wireless sensors and alarm bell all use Lithium batteries which are supplied with your Kit.
They last (with normal use) two to three years on average and the system will tell you when they need replacing. You can purchase replacements or additional batteries from Simple & Secure and from good retailers such as Maplin.
Is wireless technology as good as the traditional wired systems?
Yes. It is as good as traditional wired systems. One key benefit is that you do not need to redecorate once the system is installed and you can take it with you if you move!
Will the PowerMax®+ system affect other equipment such as my microwave?
No. The wireless frequency is set at 833 Megahertz. This is the frequency set by the European Union for security systems and cannot be used by other devices, so preventing jamming by other devices.
Microwaves and other equipment are not affected in any way.
I have an outhouse and garage that I want to secure. Can I add them to my PowerMax®+ system?
Yes. Just add the appropriate sensor for your needs. Normally this is a PIR or Magnetic Door Contact. Click here to add them to your order or call us on 0800 612 8716 for more help.
What does Plug & Protect™ mean?
It means that you just Plug in your PowerMax®+ system and you and your family are immediately Protected.
The system comes with basic functions pre-programmed so that the control panel is already set up to communicate with the different sensors.
The control panel is also supplied with default pin codes (like the pin code for a new credit card). You then change the code to a number that you can easily remember. We have no access to that code or any way of knowing what it is so please write your new codes down and keep the information safe!
